7P - Lesotho - 29.03.14

San, K5YY,will be in Lesotho, operating as 7P8YY, between April 22nd and about May 1st.
He plans to concentrate on the upper HF bands, "especially on 21-28 MHz" with a goal of working DXers who might need 7P8 for a "new country or at least a new band" for their DXCC award. San states, "I’m heading to Lesotho with 4-5 other operators for a 'fun, vacation style operation', and all ops will be using their own 7P8 callsigns. The team will have three stations set
up including amps." QSLs for 7P8YY go direct to K5YY.
 


ET - Ethiopia - 29.03.14

Ken, K4ZW, will be in Addis Ababa for the next few weeks and will be active from the Ethiopian Amateur Radio Society (EARS) club station ET3AA. He plans to be in the CQWW WPX SSB Contest (March 29-30th); outside of the contest and during his spare time he will try to be on CW and RTTY. QSL via N2OO.
 

 

J5 - Guinea Bissau - 28.03.14

Verona Team members are QRV as J52HF from Cummura until April 5 while working on the mission here.  Activity is on 20, 15, 10 and 6 meters using SSB, RTTY and JT65HF in their spare time.  QSL via I3LDP.

 


J7 - Dominica - 27.03.14

OH - Finland - 28.03.14

Markus, OH1MN will be active froma April 13st until April 20th from the grid KP44CD. Activities will be on 6 and 2m mostsly in digital. More info on http://www.sral.fi/oh1mn
 

T30 - Western Kiribati - 29.03.14

An experienced German team is pleased to announce another DXpedition to the Pacific Ocean to Southern Tarawa Atoll, Western
Kiribati. Their callsign will be T30D, and they will be active between October 2-15th. Operators mentioned are Uwe/DJ9HX, Rudolf/DK3CG, Sid/DM2AYO, Dietmar/DL2HWA, Georg/DL4SVA, Bert/DL2RNS, Heiko/DL1RTL, Juergen/DF7TT, Olaf/DL7JOM, Guenter/DL2AWG, Hans/DL6JGN and Rolf/DL7VEE. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY, with at least four simultaneous stations with 500 watts amps around the clock. A Web page will be available soon. They want to say, "A big thank you goes to our friends PY2WAS, PY2XB, T30MK, DL6KVA and DL5EBE for their help in organizing this expedition."

 


T32 - C. Kiribati - 27.03.14

Tov, T32TV, who was active lately from  Christmas Island has now moved to rare Washington Island. How long he is going to stay is not known so far. Tov is QRV with 100% solar power, running 100W and a AV-640 vertical antenna on 40-6m. His power supply is not capable of running an amplifier at the moment.
QSL via his Manager Stan, KH6CG, who is also eager to learn of possibilities to enhance Tov's power supply for generating more power.

GM - Scotland - 21.03.14

Ofcom have advised that licensed amateurs with a main station address in Scotland will be permitted to use the special prefix "A" - GA, MA, 2A - instead of the usual "M" for the period from January 25th (Burns Night) to November 30th (St. Andrews Day), during 2014. GMDX (www.gmdx.org.uk) will be instituting an award scheme for working these special prefixes throughout the period.

 

KH6 - Hawaii - 24.03.14

Jon, N0JK, will be active as KH6/N0JK from Oahu between March 24th and April 4th. He plans to be active on 6 meters with a 3 element yagi and 100 watts. He may enter the CQWW WPX SSB Contest (March 29-30th) as a Single-Op/Single-Band (10m) entry. QSL via his home callsign.

Cliff/SV1JG, George/SV1RP, Spyros/SV1RC, John/SV1GE, Takis/SV2FWV, Theodoros/SV1GRM, Manos/SV1PMR, Mike/SV8GKE and Emmanuel/SV1ME will be active with the special callsign SX5LA from Levitha Islet between May 3-11th. Activity will be on all bands, 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. The group plans to use beam antennas for 30-6m, Phased Vertical for 40m, Vertical for 80m, Inverted L for 160m and only 100 watts! T6 - Afganistan - 21.03.14

Dragan, 4O4A, is currently in located in Mazar village, Badakhshan Province in north-eastern Afghanistan and has recived the official call T6DD. He is active from 80 to 6m (mainly in CW) until September 15th. QSL via home call, LoTW and ClubLog OQRS.

 

 

TJ - Cameroon - 24.03.14


Thomas, DL8SEQ (7J1AIJ, AA8NN), working for German Foreign Service, and presently in Yaounde until the summer of 2015, is now active as TJ3TS. He is currently using an Icom IC-720, but will have a Yaesu FT-897 and Kenwood TL922 during the first week of May 2014. Antennas are a Spiderbeam (20/15/10m) and a homebrew dipole for 80/40/30m. Modes will be SSB and the Digimodes (PSK, JT-65, JT9). He will attempt to be active on the Oscars, and next month he hope to be active on 6 meters as well.

HH - Haiti - 07.03.14

John, N5JC and Joel, N5JR, will be active as HH2/homecall from Haiti between 25 March to 1 April, 2014.
Activity will be on 160 through 6 meters with a focus on CW, RTTY and the WARC bands. They will be joined by HH2JR, Jean-Robert to operate in the CQ WPX SSB Contest with special callsign 4V1JR issued by the Radio Club D’Haiti for this occasion.

VK9C - Cocos Keeling - 09.03.14

A JA team is planning to be active from Christmas Island (VK9X) - as in a dx-vacation sometime between late July and early August. Operators mentioned are Masa/JA3FVJ, JA3QWN, Ikuo/JA3TJA, Masato/JF3PLF and Taka/JH3FUK. Currently, callsigns have not been announced. Their tentative schedule is as followings: VK9C (Cocos Keeling) - between July 29th and August 2nd; IOTA OC-002.

VK9X - Christimas Is. - 09.03.14


A JA team is planning to be active from Christmas Island (VK9X) sometime between late July and early August. Operators mentioned are Masa/JA3FVJ, JA3QWN, Ikuo/JA3TJA, Masato/JF3PLF and Taka/JH3FUK. Currently, callsigns have not been announced. Their tentative schedule is as followings: VK9X (Christmas Island) - between August 2-8th; IOTA OC-003.

Hiro, JA6WFM, is now active as YS1/NP3J from San Salvador until the end of 2014. Activity has been on 80-6 meters using CW and SSB. QSL via EA5GL.

Ciao Sergio, mi chiedevi un piccolo resoconto circa l'apertura con le Hawaii ma, francamente non c'e' molto da scrivere, ero al posto giusto (dietro al pc/radio), nel posto giusto (casa mia), al momento giusto.
Quando 12 anni fa ci fu l'apertura di cui parli (fine marzo 2002) mi trovavo in liguria per lavoro, quando mi telefono' it9jav (allora iw9fbs) per avvertirmi che con la 3 elementi quad che gli avevo costruito aveva collegato le Hawaii in 50mhz fuoi da un lato contentissimo (it9jav lo considero un Amico vero) e dall'altro molto triste, io sono un cecchino del dx, ho superato i 3000 punti challenge con soli 8500 qso a log ed aver perso l'eccezionale apertura (ssb!!) con kh6 in 50mhz era una cosa che tenevo dentro.....con la vana speranza che un giorno...chissa'.

La mia stazione in 50mhz e' quanto di piu' ordinario possa esserci, 100w del mio ft650, 35m di comunissimo aircell7 e 5 elementi jxx, forse (hi) la differenza la fa l'orizzonte libero, l'antenna e' istallata a 10m dal suolo ma sulla sommita' di una collinnetta completamenta calcarea e con pareti a
strapiombo, come se fosse un palazzo di 4 piani di calcare!

Visto lo spot di un SV1 che chiedeva a KH7y se stesse provando SP o LP, ho soltanto acceso la radio e girato l'antenna a 170 gradi (LP) con mio stupore ho ascoltato kh7y, la prima decodifica mi ha portato a pensare che fosse il greco a chiamare Fred....ma il successivo "cq cq de kh7y" mi ha dato una scarica di adrenalina che non provavo da anni!
Il segnale di Fred era al limite dell'udibile, la fortuna ha voluto che la banda non presentasse rumore e che non ci fossero altri a chiamare, sarebbe diventato impossibile discriminare il segnale, la banda appariva completamente deserta, dopo lo spot mi sarei aspettato di ascoltare qualcuno dal bacino del
mediterraneo, nulla di tutto ciò..."solo" kh7y.

Memore di altre esperienze passate ho preferito utilizzare la memoria del keyer per inviare la mia chiamata (temevo che l'emozione mi giocasse brutti scherzi....intromettendosi tra mano e paddle!) e con mio ulteriore e grande stupore mi sentivo rispondere potendo cosi portare a compimento la mia lunga rincorsa al KH6 in magic band.

Io non posso annoverarmi tra gli specialisti dei 50mhz, cosi come non lo sono su nessuna banda, ho dedicato la mia attivita' radio alla caccia al new one su tutte le 10 bande, sono contento dei miei risultati (179 dxcc in 50mhz) anche in considerazione del fatto che non ho mai avuto amplificatori o antenne particolarmente performanti.

Questo non vuol essere un articolo, probabilmente e' l'esatto contrario, ma non ho teorie da spiegare o teoremi da dimostrare, ho solo la passione per il new one.

4S - Sri Lanka - 01.03.14 (Update).

Sigi, DL7DF, will lead a team of operators to activate Sri Lanka (AS-003) between March 10-23rd. Operators mentioned are Manfred/DK1BT, Csaba/DH7KU, Tom/DJ6TF, Manfred/DK1BT, Georg/DK7LX, Wolf/DL4WK, Sigi/DL7DF, Juergen/DL7UFN, Frank/DL7UFR, Jan/SP3CYY and Leszek/SP3DOI. Pilot station for this DXpedition is Bernd, DF3CB. A callsign has not yet been announced (possibly 4S7DFG, 4S7FRG and 4S7LXG).
Activity will be on 160-6 meters using several stations operating CW and SSB. One station will be exclusively dedicated to RTTY, PSK31 and SSTV.
Equipment will consist of 4 transceivers (3 x K2, 1 x FT857D), 2 x 18 m lowband vertical, a delta-loop vertical for 40m, a delta-loop vertical for 30m, 2 spiderbeam for 20/17/15/12/10m, a 5 element yagi for 6m and some beverage antennas. GM - Scotland - 28.02.14

Steve, M1ACB, and other Camb-Hams members plan to be active as GS3PYE/p from the Decca cottage, on the isle of Lewis (WW Loc. IO68UL), Outer Hebrides (EU-010), between 26th April and 3rd May 2014. QRV on 80m to 10m covered with five stations on the air simultaneously, all capable of running the legal power limit from five linear amplifiers. 6m and 4m with a great take-off to the UK and Europe, all at legal limit. With the success of EME in the past years they plan a 2m and 23cm EME station, with focus on 23cm. Also 2m/70cm Satellite activity. QSL via M1ACB.

They plan to be QRV from the San Blas Archipelago (IOTA NA-170) and the Colon-Veraguas group (IOTA NA-202) during this period. QRV holiday style on 80-6 metre CW, SSB and RTTY.

An international team of operators will be active as IG9Y from Lampedusa Island during the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 25-26th) as a Multi-Op entry.
