LA - Norway - 10.07.14

LI4LN planning to be QRV in NRAU Nordic Activity Contests (NAC) 6 m on Thursday 10 July (17 - 21 UTC), and 4 m on Thursday 17 July (17 - 21 UTC), both contests from the fairly rare QTH locator square JO29 with 5 element Yagi antennas and 100 W output power (using a new Icom IC-7100 + small PA + RX preamp), all modes (CW, SSB, FM, digital WSJT), on both 6 m and 4 m.
If no ES or aurora or tropo, check 6 m MS (JT6M mode, 1st period) near 50230 kHz (+/-).
Please note: On 4 m in this county NO operation is permitted between 70.1875 and 70.2625 kHz, because of commercial services there. This means that my operation will be 70.150 - 70.180 MHz (most likely 70170 - 70.180) and 70.270 - 70.300 (most likely 70.290 - 70.300), depending on QRM and QRN. MS mode on 4 m will be FSK441, 1st period.
I can operate split frequency, and will check 69.950 and 69.990 MHz (or elsewhere, if notified) on RX if the 4 m band is open to Germany.

ZL7X is the special callsign licensed under ZL3JP as the DX pedition for the Chatham islands, New Zealand, scheduled from 11-16th September 2014. GM - schotland - 05.07.14

GA14CG will be the flagship station of the XX Commonwealth Games (the third largest  multi-sport event in the world, after the Olympic Games and the Asian Games), to be held in Glasgow, Scotland from 21 July to 3  August. Expect activity on 160-2 metres, usign CW, SSB and digital modes. QSL via LoTW and eQSL; direct and bureau paper QSL cards should be requested through the OQRS on Club Log.
 

 

HP - Panama - 02.07.14

Paul, KG7HF, will be working as HP/KG7HF on 2m and 70cm via EME and on 6m between July 6 and 11. QSL via h/c.

 


HS - Thailand - 07.07.14

Champ, E21EIC, informs OPDX that the RAST has received special permission/license from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) for 6 meters again this year. Last activity was 4 years ago. This year the NBTC gave special permission to all HAMs in Thailand so they can operate on 6 meters. Back 4 years ago, the NBTC only gave permission to club stations to operate. This year they are allowing them to operate a total of 48 hours during July 19-20th, 2014 (during the CQWW VHF Contest). ADDED NOTES: Champ also mentions other changes will be coming within 30 days, including new regulations (By Thai Law). Some of the changes mentioned for Thai HAMs are:
    1. 2M.  144-146.5
    2. 6M  50-54 (Secondary); those who have HF license can operate.
    3. VHF license can operate on 10M.
    4. Will open an Advance license and allow to operate up to 1000w.
    5. 2M license will allow up to 60w. Club station 100w.
    6. Allow more club stations and contest callsigns.
    7. Those who do not have a license and would like to operate can go  to operate at any club station.
    8. Reissued callsigns, if any callsign has expired for 2 year.
    9. Can use radio HF+50 legally; also amplifier.
   10. No Morse send test, only received test.

Laurent, F8BBL, returns to Corsica (EU-014, DIFM TK-001) for a holiday-style activity signing TK14CC. QRV from July 5 to 19 on 80-10m in CW and SSB and on 6m as TK14CC/p from Cap Corse (JN42ra). QSL via h/c.

S7 - Seychelles - 30.06.14


Heli/DD0VR and XYL Bigi/DE3BWR, along with their traveling partners Petra and Didi, will be active as S79VR from the Seychelles Islands (AF-024) between November 3-30th. Activity is planned from Mahe (Nov. 4-10th and 22-24th), Praslin (Nov. 10-16th) and La Dique Islands (Nov. 16-22nd). Operations will be holiday style on 80-6 meters operating only QRP CW and QRO/QRP SSB on the IOTA frequencies.
He mentions that he will make CW QSO (using his G-QRP-Club NR 7073) in the QRP segments with 5 watts and SSB with 500 watts on all other bands if possible depending on the conditions. Heli will use an Elecraft KX3 with a modified Tokyo High Power HL-1.1 and KX1 for QRP into a Vertical, Single-Quad, Double-Zepp and a Currentsumeantennakit. T8 - Palau - 30.06.14


Ken, BM2JCC/JP1RIW, will once again be active as T88KH from the "West Plaza Hotel by the Sea" (GRID PJ77FI) on Koror Island (OC-009) between July 9-13th. Activity will be on 80-6 meters, including the 17/12m and mostly on the High Band on SSB using 500w on HF and 100w on 6m. On the day of summer solstice on 21st June 2014, radio amateurs from Essex will be QRV as GB1JSS from Galleywood Common, England (EU-005, WLOTA 1841) on 40-10m and 2m in CW, SSB and digital modes. VK9X - Christmas Is. - 23.06.14


A Polish team of operators will be active as VK9XSP from Christmas Island (OC-002) between October 18th and November
1st. Operators mentioned are Bob/SP2EBG, YL Gala/SP2GKS, Jan/SP3CYY, Jurek/SP3GEM, Wlodek/SP6EQZ, Ryszard/SP6FXY, Janusz/SP6IXF and Roman/SP9FOW. Activity will be on 160-6 meters using CW, SSB and RTTY. Suggested 6m frequencies are: 50105/CW and 50105/SSB.
They will have two to three stations on the air 24 hours a day, and pay a special attention to the lower bands and to areas where VK9X is the most difficult to work from. GB2BLE is the special event callsign employed by South Bristol ARC during their annual pilgrimage to Lundy Island in the Bristol Channel. Activity is planned on 80-6m + VHF, SSB and Digital modes. HL - Suth Korea - 13.06.14


Kei, HL2UVH and another 17 operators will be active again as 6M6M for the HL 6m DX Expedition between 16th June and 31st July 2014. They will be QRV on 6 metres only, with high power stations. K - USA -13.06.14

Mark, K2QO and Paul, W2TAU will be out for the ARRL June VHF Contest (14-16 June) as K2QO/R.
Look for them on the lower 4 bands. Here is the plan. Times are local and approximate based on band conditions, rate, etc: Saturday - FN22rr from 14-17; FN23nd from 19-22. Sunday - Mobile in FN23, 22, 13, 12 from 9-noon; FN13gb from 13-14m; FN03xc from 3-4pm; FN12au from 16-18; and FN02vu from 19-23. They have about 100W on each of the lower 4 bands and if they get really frisky we may also have 903MHz, 1, 2 and 3G. QSL via home call.


K - USA - 13.06.14

Dana, VE3KU, will participate in the ARRL June VHF Contest (14-16 June) from FN03FQ. He plans to be QRV on 50 - 1296 MHz. If Dana gets his 24V supply this week, he will have 150W on 902/903 MHz and will be looking seriously for contacts on that band as well as 222 MHz. QSL via VE3DSS.


VE - Canada - 13.06.14


Russell, VE3OIL, plans to rove during the ARRL June VHF Contest (14-16 June) as VE3OIL/R. He expects to have all of his gear running, 50 MHz through 10 GHz. Russell will call on 144.237 MHz whenever he is not pulled away by other activities. He will also have FM available on most bands and will monitor 146.550 MHz continuously.
