9V, 6m on Singapore UPDATE
QSL 9V1UV, K. C. "Selva" Selvadurai (9V1UV) passed away on 30 June, but Jerry, N5UCF says he will continue to serve as his QSL manager. He has logs for all of Selva's QSOs and will answer either direct and bureau requests.[SOURCE: 425DXN #1019].
Selva was one of the only 6m hams active on 6m from Singapore. We contacted 9V1TT about the 6m in Singapore, he wrote:
«Sergio, Thanks for the email. 6 Metres is really my only band of operation. My previous callsign was VK8AH where
I have DXCC on 6M with 105 countries.
9V has been a significant challenge for me. Selva and I used to keep in touch often and his passing is a sad loss.
In VK I had a substantial station, 9M2WL M2 at 72 Feet and 400Watts. But here in 9V, because of the regulations I am limited to 65W ERP! I have tried to ask the licensing body for a waiver on the ERP limitation, but they have so far restricted this, andI guess with only two operators affected, our voice to them is not great. Never-the-less, I am hopeful of one day overcoming this.
That said, I am not in a position to work you at present. I have recently moved QTH and had to go through the approval process all again.
This has been completed, but I do not have any antennas up at present. It will be more than a month before I will be even remotely active again. Unfortunately».
We hope to add some more news soon.
Sergio, IK0FTA, Sixitalia.
UPDATE: Andrew, 9V1TT, have just sent an email to me: He hope to be active on 6m around the end of this year! GL to all!
