VK - Australia - 28.11.12

VK5VF 6m Beacon - VK5BC wrote: "You may have noticed that the VK5VF 6m beacon is now on 50.320MHz, previously 52.450MHz. It was reactivated over the last weekend (24/25 Nov) on this new frequency. Received Email from Mark VK5AVQ advising of the change;
The Adelaide 6m beacon is again operation, and confirming "on-air" 2 Meters and 70 cm's (which recently failed due to a power supply cap) 6 Meter has been off air for a while (it died). A decision was then made to build a new beacon, which Col VK5ACE kindly undertook.
At the same time we succumbed to pressure to shift the frequency from 52.450 MHz to 50.320 MHz to align with the WIA band plan.
A new feature is that the unit is now frequency locked to the GPS site standard, also a recent addition.
Other details remain unchanged such as power, location and antenna.
We are pleased to have the beacon back on air for the upcoming season.
Regards,
Mark VK5AVQ, Colin (VK5ACE)"
