LATEST NEWS from Vlad, US8ZAL, dated 2011-05-09: Yesterday I received a license to operate from Moldova. We leave tomorrow, May 10. We hope to be in Cahul, KN45cv, at morning May 11. It was a pleasant surprise, that the license specified band 50 MHz. Sorry, time for training any more. We will plan the next expedition. During the passage of the

FP - St. Pierre Miquelon - 5.16.11
Eric, KV1J, will once again be operating from the Island of Miquelon ((NA-032, DIFO FP-002 WLOTA 1417, Grid GN17) as FP/KV1J between October 24th and November 1st. Activity will be on
160-10 meters using CW, SSB, RTTY and PSK31 (but primarily SSB and RTTY).
He will generally be on the highest frequency band that is open, and he may try 6 meters if there is an indications of openings. He has no permission for 60m. Also, look for him on the AO-51 satellite (and other FM birds), weather permitting and if in the 2M/70cm mode. Eric will also be in the CQWW DX SSB Contest (October 29-30th) as a Single-Op/All-Band entry. QSL via KV1J, direct or by the Bureau and also LoTW. Activity from EU-059 will run until 8 UTC on 20 June at the latest. There will be three stations active on CW and SSB on the HF bands and 6 metres (RSGB 50MHz Trophy Contest included). "We will attempt to follow this schedule as closely as possible", Col MM0NDX says, "but since the weather and seas dictate this expedition, our plans may change suddenly". I - Italy - 5.14.11
IT9AHI, IT9DVZ, IT9TFX, IT9TQH, IT9YMM, IT9ZIV and IW9FSG will be active as IE9Z from Ustica Island (EU-051) on 20-23 May. They will operate SSB, CW and RTTY on the HF bands, plus 6 and 2 metres. QSL via IT9TFX, direct or bureau.

J6 - S. Lucia - 5.11.11
The following news arrived in my email from Howard this morning: If you will please pass the following info to your contacts at UKSMG and any others who will find it useful. Howard WB4WXE is planning a return to St. Lucia again 25 June- 15 July 2011. Callsign this year will be J68HS. This is a 50 Mhz expedition. However, when 6 meters is quiet, attention will be given to 12m, 17m, 40m, and 160m. Operation site will be at 2,000 foot elevation overlooking Soufriere, St. Lucia. Grid square is FK 93. Antennas this year include a 6 element Yagi for 6m, 2 element Yagi for 17m, and full size 1/2 wave vertical for 160m, 40m and 12. Equipment will be an Icom IC-706 with Tokyo Hy-Power HL-550fx 550 watt 1.8-50 mhz amplifier. QSL via QRZ.com for J68HS. An additional 200 watt 50 mhz amplifier will be travelling to J69MV for year round resident activity on 6m. Tot has the 6m Yagi up now so expect to hear both callsigns this summer. 73, Howard WB4WXE

J7 - Dominica - 5.16.11
Members of the Florida Contest Group (FCG) will be active as J7A, J79WI, J71W and J79FCG from Sea Cliff Cottages between May 21-31st.
Operators mentioned are George/K5KG, Dan/K1TO, Jim/WI9WI and Chris/NX4N.
Activity will be on 80-6 meters, no 60m and 160m (no antenna is planned).
The FCG team will be in the CQ WPX CW Contest as J7A. Outside of the contest, operators will use the J79FCG (suffix - Florida Contest Group) callsign primarily (and perhaps exclusively), but some operators do have their own callsign. QSLs for J79FCG go only to K1TO with a SASE. Non SASE direct cards will be answered by the Bureau. Bureau cards will be answered.
The log will be uploaded to both LoTW and eQSL. QSL J7A and J71W via NX4N.

K - USA - 5.13.11
K5N Activation group announcement, dated 2011-05-11: Hi all, Getting close to launch..... We will be leaving from Venice on Thursday morning, June 2nd, heading for EL58, leaving on Monday the 6th. Hopefully by noon we will have the station on the air making thousands of contacts.. :) Our frequency will be, for the entire trip, 50.210mc. for ALL modes. 1st sequence for Meteor Scatter always. If we are very lucky, we will be able to get cellular internet, but if not, please check with Pingjockey for updates on when we have switched modes. Joey, W5TFW, should be able to hear us when we change and report. For the team, we hope to work everybody needing this grid and will run continuous for the 4 days, hoping to turn the grid color from orange to green on everyone's need list maps... KL7 – Alaska - 5.10.11
Yuri, N3QQ and other Russian Robinson Club members are planning to operate as KL7RRC from the Alaskan island St. Matthew NA-232: New IOTA between July 29 to August 5, 2011.
They wil have an IC7600 and 3 IC7000; no PA for 6m and only 1/4 lambda as 6m antenna :-(
